Tools for Leaders is a micro-learning leadership development curriculum that empowers leaders to build their skills in mentoring, engagement, and employee-first leadership.
The goal was to address a variety of roles within the airline and provide actionable ways for leaders to engage their team members. I created this video to help leaders learn how to engage their teams.
Interactive Video
The Access Control course provides a comprehensive overview of securing airline operations in various airport environments, including the baggage belt, gate, jet bridge, ramp, and cargo facilities.

Identifying an effective learning solution
My client described issues with learners retaining knowledge in the existing training, which was text-heavy and disconnected from team members’ day-to-day job duties. As a result, security violations were going unnoticed.
I decided to redesign the course around videos my team would film at our airport terminal and secure areas. My goal was to create interactive video challenges in the course that centered around real-world security incidents that could happen.
Additionally, I worked with the video team to film scenarios that showed team members what they should do if they witnessed an access control violation.
Laying the groundwork for educational filming
The training focuses on work environments where most breaches occur. All videos were shot on-site at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport so that team members could quickly identify similar scenarios in their respective work environments.
I worked with the client to identify common scenarios and scripted dozens of scenarios that would form the basis of the video shoot. I also identified props and uniform requirements for each video.
In the first image below, the video pauses during the moment of a security incident. The breach is not obvious in this example. A question pops up to see if the learner caught the breach, and the learner must click on the area of the video where the breach is occurring. The second and third images show correct and incorrect feedback messages.
